Soft washing has become a popular cleaning method within the contract cleaning business in the last few years. The method of soft washing uses a special solution blend of chemicals that consists of water, sodium hypochlorite (liquid chlorine bleach) or bleach alternative, and a surfactant that is sprayed via an adjustable spray wand at low pressure and high flow volume. The solution is applied mainly upon house rooftop asphalt shingles, house vinyl siding, wooden decking, asphalt pavement, blacktop driveways and other building exteriors, which will safely remove mildew, bacteria, algae, moss, mold spores and other organic stains. The soft wash method is used versus the traditional method of power washing to help prevent damage to asphalt shingles, vinyl siding, aluminum gutters/downspouts, asphalt pavement, blacktop coating, wood surfaces and other building materials that can get easily damaged by high pressure water. Most asphalt roofing manufacturers recommend or require cleaning your roof only by soft washing with low-pressure bleach or detergent and threaten to void their warranty on the asphalt shingles if cleaned using the pressure washing method.
Soft washing system consist of either an electric motor or gasoline engine driven, chemical resistant diaphragm pump sprayer designed to apply a biodegradable disinfecting cleaning solution to kill the mold, mildew, bacteria, algae, fungus, moss, and other organics, that can grow on exterior home and building surfaces. The solution is usually blended by the contractor and is typically stored in a polyethylene corrosion resistant holding tank that might be mounted to a removable skid or permanently mounted on a trailer or vehicle. The soft wash application hose is chemical resistance to handle the solution and can run up to 300 feet in length, to allow for coverage of hard to reach access areas. Most systems will include a stainless steel or aluminum hose reel to keep the hose neatly stored away between uses and for ease of handling. Some soft wash spray wand consists of a trigger shut off gun, wand and side handle that can adjust the spray pattern and allow you to spray the solution long distances to easily reach rooftops, eaves, gutters, and higher, hard to reach areas on multi-story buildings.
Aquatech-USA’s Soft Wash System comes ready to go and is equipped with a 6.5HP Honda Industrial Gasoline Engine that drives our AT45GR gear driven diaphragm pump which produces 11.0 gallons per minute at 290 PSI. The pumping system includes a pressure gauge to monitor the psi, Aquatech-USA’s exclusive tank-less clean-n-flush valve designed to rinse the solution out of the pump to extend the life of the pump, and an adjustable bypass valve that diverts the solution back to the holding tank when the trigger gun is closed or when the operator wants to lower the output volume and pressure. The pumping unit is mounted to a corrosion resistant modular aircraft grade aluminum skid frame along with a plumbed-in 200 gallon self-contained polyethylene constructed soft wash solution tank and a “all wetted parts” stainless steel and aluminum constructed industrial hose reel that holds 300 feet of supplied chemical application hose. The application hose is a durable ½”ID hose with Flextral Ag ribbed outer cover to help prevent wear and to maintain a long life. The hose is rated to handle up to 800 PSI almost 3 times the unit’s operating pressure and comes in an orange color to be highly visible for safety purposes. The adjustable spray gun wand is rated to handle up to 25 GPM at 850 PSI and a maximum temperature of 140 degrees F. The wand is 26” in length with a variable long range spray nozzle to reach a distance up to 30 feet, so that the cleaning solution can access roof eaves, upper story windows, and other such areas. This gives the operator, the ease, convenience, and safety of not having to use a ladder or scaffolding. The complete unit’s dimensions are compact enough so that the whole system can fit in the bed of a standard pick up truck and the frame has built in fork pockets to easily move and load the unit with the use of a forklift. The Aquatech-USA Soft Wash is a complete, reliable, durable, and industrial duty system designed to hold up to the constant daily use and heavy workload that perfectly meets professional contractors’ high expectations and cleaning needs.
